Cotswold Koi was established in 2008 by Robert Smith and Lewis Barber, both with over 12 years Koi keeping experience having been keen Koi hobbiests since the age of 12, we decided to take our hobby to the next level by acquiring the barn at Sturt farm, near Burford on the A40, and setting up a dealership in June 2008. While still working full-time jobs, we would work late evenings and weekends to begin building the stock tanks and gradually the shop began to take shape. By December it was almost complete and we could start looking forward to our first buying trip to Japan in February 2009 with Allen Karl; former owner of ‘Fishy Things’ at Standlake. Our trip to Japan was an amazing eye-opener and after a week we had our stock for the first year. Unfortunately, in 2010 Lewis decided to sell his interest in the company due to other commitments.

Since our first trip, we have returned to Niigata Japan regularly to select a wide variety and high grade of Japanese Koi and Sturgeon for our customers. On importation into the UK, all of our fish are quarantined for several weels before sale to customers. This ensures that all our fish are in superb physical health before sale. At Cotswold Koi we pride ourselves on our reputation for variety and quality of fish at reasonable prices; our Japanese Koi start from only £5 and go up to £900.
