What Is A Shiro Utsuri Koi?

Shiro Utsuri koi, pronounced SHEE-roh OOT-soo-ree, are beautiful fish with a unique colour pattern. They have mostly black bodies (sumi) with striking white patterns (shiro) on their backs. This design looks like a checkerboard, with sections of deep black and bright white. The contrast between the colours makes the koi really stand out. The bright white enhances the artistic look of the fish, which is why many koi lovers and collectors want them. This type of koi shows the skill in koi breeding and the balance between colour and form in these Koi.
