Mr Koizumi – Filter Start Gel

Mr Koizumi “Filter Start” is a mix of selected Nitrosomonas and Nitrobacter bacteria that actively break down ammonia and nitrite at a temperature from 8°C. Regularly adding these bacteria to the pond filter increases biological action, optimally removing pollutants like ammonia and nitrite and breaking down organic material, thus preventing filter clogging.  *Concentrated formula*- MR KOIZUMI “FILTER START GEL” contains around 1 BILLION colony forming units per ml making it one of the highest quality pond filter starters available!

Instructions for use:

Spread the bacteria over biological filter materials such as lava rocks, Substrates, Japanese mats and other Biomasses. Turn off the UV or ozone for 48 hours after adding Mr Koizumi “Filter Gel”.

Pond Filter Dosage:

Add 50ml per 1000l to the filter at start up or after cleaning the pond filter. A higher frequency or dosage is recommended after medication use, after spawning, with ammonia or nitrite issues or with green pond water. A higher dosage of bacteria is harmless and improves the products effective action.

Store in a dark, frost free place. Shake well before use. Keep out of reach of children

Instructions for Optimal Use:

  • Dissolve 10 to 20 grams weekly per 1000 litres of pond water
  • First mix with a limited amount of water in a bucket, then spread evenly along the edges of the pond
  • The water will initially become cloudy but will clear within 24 hours, depending on the filtration and amount of organic material in the pond
  • Clay 86 can also be added directly to feed (1 – 5%) to improve digestion and nutrient absorption.
