Understanding Phosphate:

Phosphate is a crucial nutrient found in fish food, aiding in growth, bone formation, and various biological processes. While essential for life, excess phosphate, not utilized by fish, can be excreted as waste or generated by the breakdown of organic matter. Elevated phosphate levels are often associated with the growth of nuisance algae, and while beneficial in small quantities, higher concentrations can disrupt the mineral balance within fish.

Why Test for Phosphate?

Testing for phosphate is essential to monitor and control its concentration in the water, as increased levels contribute to nuisance algae growth. What is the Correct Phosphate Level?

5. Remove the cap and look down through the test tube to determine the colour.
6. Compare the colour to the provided colour chart to determine the phosphate concentration.
