The Koi Medic Digital Salinity Tester is the ideal way to test the salinity levels in your Koi pond. This technically advanced device gives fast and accurate results every time. It is very easy to use, simply dip the sensor into the water and read the result.

Using the Salinity Tester each time you add salt to the water will ensure that the water levels have just the right level of salt. It’s important to ensure that the salinity levels are optimised to ensure good fish health and to eliminate parasites in the water.

The Tester uses 4 x 1.5v batteries and has over 150 hours of life. It conserves energy too, thanks to an automatic shut off after 15 minutes.

Please note:

It is strongly advised that you do not add salt directly into the water in large amounts. This may burn the koi. Also check the salinity levels of the water regularly as it can be affected by wet or dry weather conditions.

Correct pH Level: While there is no universally correct pH level, different fish species have their preferred pH ranges. Generally, the ideal pH value falls between 7 and 8, but it’s essential to consider the specific requirements of the fish you own. Always inquire about the preferred water conditions when purchasing fish from your local aquatic retailer.

What to Do if the pH Level is Off:

• If adjustments are necessary, make changes slowly to avoid shocking the fish. Limit pH adjustments to no more than 0.5 units every 2 days.
• Conduct substantial water changes if your tap water has a suitable pH to correct dangerous pH levels.
• Check the KH (carbonate hardness) of the pond. Use pH adjusters like KH – Buffer Up to raise pH caused by soft or aged water.
• For fish in soft, acid water, consider using bogwood to gently lower the pH and soften the water.

How to Use:

1. Ensure the test tube is clean.
2. Collect a 5ml water sample into the test tube.
3. Add 5 drops of the pH reagent, replace the test tube cap, and shake thoroughly.
4. Compare the colour of your sample to the provided colour scale for an accurate pH reading.
