What Is A Doitsu Showa Koi?

A Showa koi are part of the “big three” koi types, which also include Kohaku and Sanke. They were created by crossing a Kohaku with a Hi Utsuri. This mix leads to Showa koi with bright colours like red or orange, white, and black. Showa koi come in over a dozen variations, and these can also be found in the Doitsu type .Doitsu means no scale’s or little scales on a koi.
