The engineering and understanding of how filtration works was developed to produce Draco drum solum 16. As with the ‘Drop-in’  Draco drum range these have some unique features to help eliminate deadspots that are usually found in standalones.

The Draco drum solum 16 are pretty enough for you not to want to hide them away.

The remotely sited controller has start / emergency stop buttons and a knob allowing you to change the length of wash. LED indicator shows the length of time between washes in minutes. It also has 2 leads – one to plug in to the mains supply (110v and 230v, auto selectable) and one to plug in to the drum. Status of the unit is via 4 colour coded LEDs. We didn’t think we could make it any simpler than that.

Low voltage, sealed water valves and drive units utilising an extremely low geared direct drive system mean that only 12 volts is anywhere near your pond water.

The Draco drum solum 16 was designed to run without a noisy and power hungry wash pump in most circumstances (they are available if required) . On standby the unit can use less than 12 watts and in full wash mode, use 35 watts. It is entirely possible to run it off a car battery for prolonged periods of time.

Draco Drum midi  Bio Unit was designed to co-ordinate with the Draco Drum Solum Range of drum filters, they utilise the same curved base configuration to reduce dirt traps and can be installed either singly or in multiples.

Advantages with the Draco Drum Bio Unit:

  • The Design also causes the bio media to more easily circulate, thereby increasing the amount of bio media your water touches as it travels through the unit.
  • Can be installed in multiple configurations to make best use of the space you have available.
  • Twin 4” inlet / 2″ outlets but can be modified for individual needs.
  • Dimensions – 610mm wide x 1000mm long x 705mm depth.
  • Holds 200 litres of typical bio media in 300 litres of water.

How does the Draco Drum midi Bio Unit work?

Operation of the Draco Drum Midi Bio Unit

Draco Drum midi Bio Unit unit is configured as a downward flow, diverted input unit with longitudinal air delivery, to manage water flow around the chamber, maximising the active volume for bio filtration.

Incoming water at the top will have a tendency to “track” diagonally or straight down to the outlet, the path of “least resistance”. By making it interact with the air from the bottom of the tank, this waterflow is disrupted and forced back upwards.

If part of the incoming flow is diverted towards the centre of the tank, the water is forced into the area where the air is rising, enhancing this flow disruption and pushing the water out to the sides.

As the water is pushed sideways at the surface of the unit, it has no choice but to travel downwards when it hits the side. The bottom of the chamber is curved, helping that downward flow turn into a circulatory movement. When reaching the airbar right at the bottom of the unit, the water is forced back up to repeat the circulation until it exists out of the far end. This curved bottom also eliminates any corners where debris may accumulate.

Draco 2 Drum

The Draco 2 Drum is a reasonably priced and reliable unit. It comes with a choice of screens 77 microns and 58 microns depending on what is required. This Drum Can be used without a pressure wash pump – wash cycle runs off a normal garden hose with a minimum pressure of 2.5 bar with good flow. The Origin uses 28 watts of power while active, 11.5 watts while on standby and 78 watts while active with optional pressure pump. The Drive system comprises direct gearing to the back of the drum minimising complexity, the sealed motor unit is mounted on a single pivot swing arm as a safety feature to stop foreign bodies jamming the system. Its a fairly Simple installation via multiple types of adaptor plate which are interchangeable Single, pre-wired connection from controller to drum. Just plug and play ability to site controller up to 4 metres away from the unit. The Status of controller is available via simple, high intensity, colour coded LEDs and a digital minute between washes display. Easily accessible water level sensors that can be adjusted to accommodate any situation
All parts are modular and are replaceable in the event of any damage or failure Wholly designed and built in the UK by Draco Drum.

The Minima – Combi Unit

Another first for Draco – a true, fully functional, expandable drum combi system for under £1200.

Perfect for quarantines, average stocked ponds to 2000 gallons, multi tank / sump installations and anywhere else a complete, compact unit is needed where there is very little space as it is only 30.5cm wide.

Height above static pond water level is 17.5cm .

This unit will run gravity fed only!

Media capacity is approximately 40 litres and can take micro K1.

An additional bolt on bio unit will be available, allowing the user to seamlessly double the biological capacity of the filter.
